Ai Video Upscaling Use Cases

Before / After Ai Scaling

I’ve been utilizing Topaz AI Video natively on macOS for a little over one year now. I’m happy with its workflow and results. Here are my first year experiences:

  • 1080p upscales to 8k beautifully.
  • SD upscales to 4k impressively.

My go-to usage for Topaz Ai Video scaling is for preserving system resources during virtual production live streaming sessions.

During these sessions, I’m using one machine to run the Unity realtime engine editor being served multiple live camera feeds inside of an initialized virtual environment using the scriptable high definition render pipeline.

Simultaneously, the final pixel output from Unity is being recorded locally and streamed to YouTube in realtime using OBS Studio.

I’ve discovered through experimentation and logging that I am able to preserve desirable frames per second for all concurrent processes when recording at 720p at 30fps.

Following the conclusion of a live stream / record session for a virtual production I use Topaz Ai Video to upscale the 720p 30fps recording to a final output of 4k 60fps.

The results are buttery smooth motion and beautiful pixel clarity that rivals native 4k origination materials.
